Children & Teens

Art therapy supports children & youth to express their emotional world through art. Interventions are responsive to their developmental level. The combined processes of art and evidence-based talk therapy approaches make therapy creatively engaging. Most kids find the process enjoyable.

I offer 1:1 sessions to help with:

  • Expression of emotions such as anger, body image/disordered eating, friendship struggles, bullying, grief/loss, trauma, developmental life transitions such as puberty, going to a new school, moving, identity, family changes/ separation, divorce.

  • Support for people living with a physical or mental health condition or planning for surgery.

My approach is responsive to my client’s needs and goals but is always strengths-based, guided by attachment theory and child & youth development. I use a variety of psychotherapy techniques which we will discuss while treatment planning.

I am currently accepting clients aged 8+.

Please note: if your child receives care from me in the public sector (at a school), I am unable to accept them as a 1:1 client in my private practice. Thanks for understanding.

Adults

Art therapy can support emotional release and expression, increase personal insight, and offer a safe space for your experience to be held and witnessed. We’ll combine art processes with talk psychotherapy techniques.

As an art therapist, I can help you navigate:

  • Life stages: young adult, prenatal or postpartum adjustment, return to work, parenting, peri/menopause, retirement.

  • Strain, stress, burnout: nurses or health care workers, caregivers, relationships.

  • Significant life changes: emotional support and coping during physical illness such as cancer or end-of-life care.

  • Traumatic experiences, grief and loss.

I am currently accepting clients. Book a consult or virtual appointment.

Art making is a health behaviour. Art therapy is for everyone.

Psychotherapy is not currently covered by provincial health (OHIP). There is no HST on psychotherapy in Ontario. If you have group benefits, check to see if you are covered for “Registered Psychotherapist”. My session fee covers preparation, ongoing professional development, insurance, and my electronic medical record documentation system. Payment is collected upon your arrival.
