Art Therapy Services

Art therapy is for all bodies, abilities, identities, and life stages. You do not need any specific skills to participate.

Children & Teens

Art therapy supports children & youth to express their thoughts and feelings in creative ways. Interventions are responsive to their developmental level. The combined processes of art and talk therapy make therapy creatively engaging.

I offer support for those impacted by concerns such as:

  • Friendship struggles, bullying, grief/loss, trauma, developmental life transitions such as puberty, going to a new school, moving, identity

  • Or as a support for people living with a physical or mental health condition

My approach is humanistic, strengths-based and guided by attachment theory and child & youth development.

I am currently accepting clients aged 8+ for outdoor art therapy sessions or studio based sessions.

Please note: if your child receives care from me in the public sector (at a school), I am unable to accept them as a client in my private practice. Thanks for understanding.

Groups

Nurses in the Making: An art journaling club for nursing students

Tuesday evenings, virtual, 8-9pm EST

(On hold for December 2024)

Reserve your spot on Eventbrite. One ticket gets you in for the month! A Zoom link will be sent out after purchase. You do not need any art experience to participate in this group. Ticket fees are by sliding scale. Pay what you can afford. No judgment. This is about carving out a creative self care practice for your heart, mind and nervous system.

Bring your journal or make one with an old book or scrap paper. Use whatever art materials you have on hand.

Adults

Art therapy can support emotional release and expression, increased personal insight and self-understanding. It is also an act of creative self-care. We’ll combine art processes with talk psychotherapy techniques.

An art therapist can help you navigate:

  • Life stages: prenatal or postpartum adjustment, return to work, parenting, peri/menopause, retirement.

  • Strain, stress, burnout: nurses or health care workers, caregivers, relationships.

  • Significant life changes: emotional coping during physical illness such as cancer or end-of-life care.

  • Traumatic experiences, grief and loss.

I am current accepting clients for virtual sessions.

Community &

Mobile Art Therapy

I offer community-based programs, artmaking for team building, and Art Hives for community events.

Home visits available on a case by case basis for adults (postpartum, terminal illness or palliative care, older adults including seniors at home or in assisted living).

I also accept referrals from community physicians who have obtained consent to connect a patient for the purpose of art therapy. Please use my contact form to request a phone call or give me a call.

“Any treatment that helps people calmly observe themselves and calmly understand what’s going on inside is terribly important.”

— Bessel van der Kolk, MD
